1. MINISTERIUM CLUB – The club who is becoming a real reference
Openned in 2012, the Ministerium Club is located on the Praça do Comércio, in the former premises of the Portuguese Minister of Finances, hence the noun of the club. The Ministerium Club is building a reputation itself in Lisbon in the universe of house and electro music. Many worldwide known DJs have already played their music in that club such as Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Craig, Maya Jane Coles or Miss Kittin. Obviously famous Portuguese mixmasters also come to this nightclub. Be careful, you should be stylish and sleek if you want to go inside ! The bouncers are known to be harsh and very exigent.

2. LUX – The staple of Lisbon
Do we still have to introduce the Lux Frágil, the well-known nightclub in Lisbon for many years ? One of the owners is John Malkovich, so you probably have already heard about his club without having gone to Lisbon. Located on the docks of Santa Apolónia, the terraces of the nightclub provide a beautiful view of the Tage. The client base is extensive and various. The program is very specific but also very wide. National and international DJs and artists with different musical styles perform at the Lux. Beware, it is very hard to go inside, specially during evenings of rush. Make sure to be well-dressed and no to come only with men.

Lust in Rio is a multi-purpose establishment located on the docks of Cais do Sodré. On the first floor, you will find the SushiRio restaurant, with a moderne and eclectic decoration. On the terrace, there is an amazing view on the Tagus and you will be served traditional and fusion sushis. The outside and the ground floor accommodate the Lust in Rio space where famous evenings take place from Midnight to 6 AM, from Wednesday to Sunday. 4. DOCKS CLUB – For the Angolan atmosphere and the African house
Located in the former warehouses of the docks of Alcântara, the Docks Club exists for many years and has always been successful. Very busy by the Angolan community (except on Tuesday), it’s a perfect place to dance on African musics such as kizomba, semba or African-house. The program also plans hip hop and R&B. The inevitable and very busy Ladies Nights take place on Tuesday nights.

5. MUSICBOX – An excellent and varied program
Open in 2006, the Musicbox has become the lung of the Rua Nova do Carvalho and even more : all over the district of Cais do Sodré. This hybrid space, between a bar, a concert hall and a nightclub, has one of the most specialized music program of Lisbon, in terms of DJs and live music. To my mind, this club offer the most famous Portuguese musicians currently, even better than Lux Fragil. Why ? Because Musicbox has become a real Portuguese and international talent scout throughout the years. This establishment is cutting-edge, an interesting place if you like alternative programs out of the ordinary.

6. MOME – A new nightclub to watch carefully
The MoMe is a space that used to be called the Main and has hosted excellent evenings in recent years. Inaugurated for New Year’s Eve 2018, the Mome offers a general musical selection and a varied audience but more in their thirties and forties. The place is pleasant with 3 spaces : a restaurant on the 2nd floor with a beautiful view of the Tagus, a bar on the 1st floor with a good musical atmosphere, quality cocktails and different sofas and chairs to relax in a lounge atmosphere. On the ground floor, you are in the disco itself, which has 2 side bars and a large dance floor.
Not to be missed : on the 2nd floor, a statue is hung on the ceiling. This is a statue that is the symbol of the Rolls Royce brand, known as “The Spirit of Ecstasy“. The work was purchased by the owner of the club at an auction in London.

7. K URBAN BEACH – A vast place, pleasant and versatile
The K.Urban Beach is part of the K group, a very influential company in Lisbon which own several restaurants and nightclubs for almost 30 years. This vast resort near the Tagus is comprised of, besides a nightclub, the Sakana (a sushi restaurant), the Papagayo (a grilled meat – rodizio restaurant) and a privatizable beach club. The client base is pretty young and there are big parties with national and international known DJs.

8. BOLERO LISBOA – Always nice evenings
This club has change his name several times the last few years. Since 2015, it is called the Bolero. The recipe is the same in spite of many changes of owner : to host big parties. The place is huge and parties often take place on the big terrace till the early morning. Even if this club doesn’t have the same fame than is the 90’s, it still organizes beautiful evenings in a magnificent place. It is located on the docks of Alcântara and there are many others nightclubs around such as the Docks Club, previously mentioned.

10. INCOGNITO BAR – Alternative and tiny
Open since 1988, this tiny place has the ability to accommodate 150 persons. Sufficient to be a real reference of Lisbon clubbing and a place to encounter alternative musics amateurs (indie, syhthpop, new wave, electro, indie-rock et alternative). During the weekend, the nightclub is very busy. Don’t forget : you must ring at the door to enter the club.
